It is my intention to become a graphic designer, it is a career path I decided to follow a few years ago, as this field of work inspires me and allows me to use my creative side. I believe I possess the skills necessary to achieve this goal with hard work and improved learning I will get there.
I am currently studying A levels in Art, Textiles, Photography and Design as these subjects will broaden my knowledge and help me pursue my career pathway.
In conjunction with my studies I also work part time in a modern and progressive photographic studio where I have gained experience to enable me to run the studio, from initial bookings, through to directing the poses, setting up the lighting, changing the gels, using the camera, altering the aperture, framing the image and digitally manipulating the images before handing over a completed package. This job has certainly improved my confidence in my ability.
I have also worked using the computer software Adobe Photoshop to design and print out brochures to promote my father’s goalkeeping business. www.goalkeeperdevelopment.com
I am very hardworking, contentious and work on my own initiative; my communication skills have been tested to the full when working in the studio, having to deal with a complete range of people, different in age/ looks/ personality, but treat them all with decorum and respect when doing their lifestyle images. It is very important in this situation to keep the conversation flowing, making them feel relaxed and at ease to gain natural images, so they leave feeling special about themselves with a memento of my hard work under their arm.
I understand that in this day and age it is necessary to possess more than one skill, you have to be multi-skilled and I believe that my artistic, creative, photography skills, combined with my improving knowledge of computer technology will stand me in a good stead.
